TIP #10
Rinsing Vertical Surfaces
When rinsing vertical surfaces, start at the top and work downward. Gravity will help the clean water flush away dirt, debris, and detergent residue, in addition to preventing streaks.
TIP #19
When Stripping Paint
It is not necessary to strip all of the paint from the surface. Paint that remains bonded to the siding should be sanded to blend with the rough surface and then painted over.
TIP #21
Clear the Area
Before beginning any pressure washer project, clear the area of any obstacles and cover nearby plants and electrical components.

Operation

Getting Started

Operating Your Pressure Washer
  • Make sure to check the engine oil level each time you use your pressure washer.
  • When changing or adding oil, do not overfill the engine crankcase. Overfilling oil may cause smoking, hard starting, spark plug fouling, and oil saturation of the air filter.
  • As you hook up your pressure washer, it is a good idea to check all hoses, screens, O-rings, and attachments for wear or damage to help avoid any problems during operation. See Preventative Maintenance.
  • Finally, make sure the fuel tank is filled to the proper level prior to starting the engine. Fill the tank with clean, fresh, lead-free regular gasoline, but do not overfill; allow space for fuel expansion.

Prepare the Work Site Pressure Washing Techniques
Before starting any pressure washing project, it is important to take the time to properly prepare the work site:
  • Cover any nearby electrical equipment, such as meters and air conditioning units, and any outdoor lighting fixtures.
  • Remove any obstructions from the area, such as vehicles, outdoor furniture, and yard decorations.
  • Close all nearby windows and doors.
  • Sweep away any large debris from horizontal surfaces.

Power Washing
If the pressure washer is not equipped with an easy start feature, squeeze the spray-gun trigger to relieve the pressure in the water pump. Hold the trigger until there is a steady stream of water, then engage the safety latch and attempt to start the engine again.
